As the captain of the team, you have to select the driver and car. You have a budget of $2000.

 

You may select a combination of driver and engine that costs more than your budget. Use the result of this combination to compare to the results of the other combinations. (Compare the probability, or odds.) Just how much better are the chances of the best driver and best engine?

Wrong Way Corrigan: Need I say more? She makes wrong turns 30% of the time. Cost= $500

Manny Mixup: Manny is not as bad as Corrigan, but this he still makes wrong turns 20% of the time. Cost= $1,200

Lawn mower engine: Cheap but overheats 40% of the time. Cost= $500

Junkyard Special: Hey, it works 70% of the time. Cost= $1300

8-Cylinder: The best thing they have, but their half-hearted mechanics can't keep it working. 20% chance of overheating. Cost=$1,500
