Assessment:

Most applications of Mr. E. Mike's House of Math have a print out that can be used to validate a student's completion of the section.

Point values can be assigned to each application according to a teacher's needs.

It is recommended that the more advanced applications be weighted more heavily than the basic or intermediate skill level applications.

Basic applications might be considered equivalent to a homework assignment.

Intermediate applications could be considered to be quizzes and advanced applications could be considered as tests.

Some examples of assessing students.

Section/Problem: Integers/ Mr. Slick

The Mr. Slick is an intermediate problem. When a student completes the problem a printout can be handed in to the instructor. If a teacher uses a 100 point scale for the point value for a test, this problem might be worth 10 points. Considering the entire application section of the Integer chapter the total point value might be 90. We assigned a 5 point value for all basic skill level problems, 10 points for intermediate problems, and 50 points for the Advanced problem. Quest for a cubicle requires students to solve 10 problems to complete the activity. If a teacher would like an even 100 points for the section, the concept section contains 6 interactive problems. A five point value for the can be assigned for completing the concept section.
